Die Fakultät erweitert stetig ihr internationales Studienangebot. Einige Fächer bieten die Möglichkeit eines Doppelabschlusses. Internationale Studiengänge an der Philosophischen Fakultät und Fachbereich Theologie

The MA DEIS is an economics-centered programme with a sound training in analytical and quantitative methods in the fields of development economics as well as business ethics & sustainability. It is aimed at students planning to work or seek leadership responsibilities in public, non-profit, and private sector organizations for international cooperation and development, and for those intending to pursue an academic career in development economics or business ethics & sustainability.

Development Economics and International Studies

This International Master will provide you with insight, knowledge, and experience in ways of promoting health through physical activity and exercise for the prevention and rehabilitation of diseases. You will enjoy the benefits of small classes. Through active participation, you gain knowledge and experience by

  • conceptualising intervention strategies for the promotion of physical activity and public health policies
  • implementing physical activity and health promotion measures within specific settings and for specific target groups
  • developing and implementing measures for individual physical activity and health promotion programmes for specific people who are prone to certain diseases and health risks
  • quality assurance and management of specific physical activity and health promotion measures
  • scientific evaluation of specific physical activity and health promotion programmes

Students from 30+ nations are enrolled in our programme. Our students have degrees from various disciplines such as Sport Science, Physical Education, Medicine and Surgery, Public Health, Psychology, Physiotherapie, Sociology, or Communication. We value the diverse cultural and interdisciplinary backgrounds of our students.

Physical Activity and Health

This interdisciplinary and international master programme (Master of Arts) is directed by internationally known Professor Heiner Bielefeldt, Chair in Human Rights and Human Rights Policy and UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief. The programme encompasses

  • courses on the philosophical, political and legal foundations of human rights
  • courses on special areas of human rights

Admission requires at least one year of professional experience either in the area of human rights or in combination with practical experience in human rights work on a volunteer basis.

Human Rights

SDAC is an interdisciplinary study programme that allows the students to acquire profound academic and methodological knowledge, as well as additional key skills regarding decision-making processes in East Asia. Students may choose their academic focus (linguistic-cultural, comparative-philosophical, cultural-religious). During their obligatory stay at the European Centre for Chinese Studies (ECCS) in Beijing, students will be given the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge to both academic and everyday situations in China.

The programme requires a BA degree of variable disciplinary orientation.

Standards of Decision-Making Across Cultures is part of the Elite Network of Bavaria.

Standards of Decision-Making Across Cultures

North American Studies at Erlangen has a unique research and study profile, positioning and analyzing the United States in a hemispheric and transatlantic web of relations. Besides the U.S., studies focus on Canada and the Anglophone Caribbean. North American Studies combines

  • area-specific cultural studies cultural history, general cultural theory, and literary studies
  • a culturally and media-specific approach, including literary theory and literary history

North American Studies

MA English Studies is a consecutive two-year full-time course (or four-year part-time course) with a total of 120 ECTS points (60 ECTS/30ECTS points per academic year). It is a taught course with a strong research orientation in the fields Culture and Literature or Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. It offers in-depth study of these fields with specific focus on the areas:

  • Literary studies: relations between literature and other discourses, e.g. philosophy, politics, religion etc.,
  • Cultural Studies: cultural history, processes of cultural and medial translation
  • Linguistics: theoretical linguistics and its application to the description of English, including the perspective of foreign language learning.

English Studies

En el MA The Americas / Las Américas se analizan procesos culturales, políticos y sociales de las Américas a nivel regional, interregional y transregional. La carrera interdisciplinaria combina estudios culturales, literatura, ciencias políticas y sociales con focalización en América Latina, en América del Norte y en perspectiva comparada. Las competencias adquiridas habilitan para trabajar en áreas vinculadas con la administración cultural, en instituciones internacionales, en el campo editorial y publicístico, en organizaciones de formación política y otros.

El programa tiene una duración de 4 semestres y puede estudiarse sin tener conocimientos de alemán.

Requisitos: Examen de grado en estudios norteamericanos, latinoamericanos, anglística o romanística, o bien otro examen de grado von vinculación regional; nivel de lengua C1 para inglés y B2 para español o viceversa según el Marco Común Europeo de Referencia (o equivalentes).

The Americas/Las Américas

The EMLex promotes the international and interdisciplinary training of lexicographers. In its present structure, it is unique worldwide. The study plan includes lexicographical theories and methods at excellence level, while maintaining a pronounced applicability of the contents, e.g. creating a dictionary and working in the fields of language technology and information management. Last but not least, it offers an international study environment by bringing together students from different countries all over the world.
The EMLex is funded by the EU as an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD). Scholarships for applicants are available.
